Dear Sir or Madam,

Re: Permission to film

I’m writing to you to ask for permission to film within your graveyard. On the 19thof November 2012, as we are media studies students from Sidney Stringer Academy and it is a part of our course to film a short film, we’ve chosen your graveyard as one of our locations. We would much appreciate it, if we were granted permission to use the graveyard within our production.

Yours faithfully

Syranpreet Rai, Zahra Ali, Shamim Miah and Bahno Mirzad
We visited Saint Peters on the 19thof November. A lady on the reception agreed us permission for using their graveyard.

LO2: Locations

Photos of chosen locations

We have selected the three locations of Saint Peters Church, Primrose Hill Park, Car Park near an individual's house as they are all near each other and not very far away. This will mean that production in terms of camera production will be less time consuming as the locations and distances are easy to get to.

Location 1 – Saint Peter Church (Graveyard)

The use of Saint Peters Church within our production is that the opening as it fits in with our storyboard.  It has building, which also includes a small memorial with gravestones that we are able to use in our production. It is based in Coventry and is considerable near to the other locations therefore making the placement very appropriate within our production.

It includes a graveyard and this will be the best place to record our production, this area with the scenery allows a great opportunity to create an atmosphere. The characters will be introducing themselves within the production as mystery identities. By having gloomy settings it will allow build on the mystery aspect.

Location 2 – Primrose Hill Pathway & Park

This is the primrose hill street we will use to record Shak going to retrieve the money; this is a great place to record, as it is minutes away from the park from the earlier scene. In addition the narrow path can show the struggle that Shak goes through to get the money from the mystery man.

You are able to see below the location selected to record the kidnap scene within our production we have selected this area, as it is a friendly environment, which Shak and rose are at. The element of surprise is better to take place in the park as it makes it unexpected therefore making our production more dramatic.

The path way will show where the Shak and Rose walking towards the stairs, creating a fun atmosphere. They will be giggling and laughing before the separation takes place at the end of the stairs.

This is the pathway where Shak and Rose will be walking before she gets kidnapped. This angle of shoot will hint out this sense of danger. We can feel this danger as the camera is creeping out towards the characters.

You are able see below the area where Rose will get kidnapped; this is at the end of the park and the steps to get out. The reason for the use of this specific area within the production is because it creates Irony. This being that as soon as she is about to leave the park and the fun atmosphere she will be facing towards danger.

Near Individuals House

This is where the scene of exchange of the bag of money for Rose, it includes the scene for rose death and the fighting that takes between the Boss and Shak.

Casting photographs and justifications

Within the production for our film we decided to insure that are production is at satisfactory level. For the roles allocated within our production we gained audition to allow the right actor to be used within our production. Below shows our top 4 actors of choice:

The Hero

One of the characters we had an audition for this role is Shoib. He presented himself very well to the group and showed that he could be a suitable candidate to play the role of the hero, we did have one problem though at times his acting lacked in showing emotion and he was more suited in the humorous aspects of acting therefore meaning that this could make it harder for this individuals to be the Hero within our production.

Another actor who went up for audition in this Role was Gift, he was very good and talented for a role within our production, however the way he presented himself we felt that he was more suited to the other roles that we had on offer and that he lacked in something for him to be the Hero within our production.

Our Overall Decision from the actors lead to our decision in selecting the following candidate below:

This candidate being Shaukat Saleji, We realized start away from his audition that he fitted in with the role very well, he presented emotional aspects to his character and was very well suited to the role of the hero.

The Villain

One of the characters that auditioned for this role is Muddasir, he as a an audition was very excellent, he presented himself well to be one of the bad character within our production and the way he presented and used his words to the audience was very good as it contained manipulation and power making him very suited to the role of the villain.

Another individual whom auditioned for the role to be a Villain is Gift as within his first interview, we suggested that he should try out for this role as he may be more suited to this character due to the way he presented and acted in the first audition.

The final individual who auditioned for the role of a Villain is Sahedul, during his audition he did very well and presented himself as a worthy candidate within our selection process. During his audition he demonstrated and presented in his acting villain type behavior which we as a group were very interested in and thought that Sahedul done this well.

The Damsel in Distress

One of the characters that we as a group auditioned is Henna, we were able to see that she made a great candidate within our production as she presented us with very good set of acting skills.

Another individual we auditioned is Tahira, and she fitted well with the damsel in distress, she also had good acting skills and this was supported by her interest in Expressive Arts.

The final individual we interviewed is show below this being Syran:

The Helper

One of the characters we had an audition from is: Anhar

Another character we had an audition from is: Muddasir

We chose Shaukat to be the hero in the film as he showed great acting skills and showed us a wide randge of emotions when reading lines from our script. We chose Gift to be the villain as he showed agression and anger in his actions. He also presented power when reading the lines from the script. We chose Syran to be the damsel in distress, as she showed great emotion and was very enthusiastic. For the role of the helper, we chose Anher and Kamiul as they both looked great as a pair. They also had great acting skills and we didn't want to lose one of them so we kept both.
